My Rambles

This will be ranty and mildly confusing...here we go:
After these elections, I feel like I should post my thoughts on everything.

This moment is historic in both my personal life and in this world. While I wasn't necessarily impressed with any of the candidates, this election is part of history. How amazing is it that our groups first election was for this one? I feel a privilege and honor, as an American born in a foreign country to be able to participate in something so meaningful. I am a United States citizen and have always felt part of that, despite what some may say. Despite all the turmoil and depression I think we've all felt throughout these past couple of years, The United States of America has been and will continue to be my home...my country. It has provided me opportunity I would have never had in any other country that I have lived in or visited. I know this is all cliche, but as many of you know I have been to many parts of the world, and whenever I come home I never feel such a relief as I do when I am here with the people I love and with the freedom I have. I suppose one would have to be in my shoes to really understand. While I understand a vote doesn't necessarily matter, (and I know some of you will give me this, I know this better than most) our voices are heard. We have the ability to do things that other don't, and until you feel those oppressions, one can't really appreciate the level of freedom we have here. I am proud. We have proven that we aren't necessarily apathetic. This election is not just impotant to those here in this country, but to people world wide. It's mind boggling. Whoever you voted for, I am glad you did. You have a right as an American citizen to do so, don't take it for granted. Barack Husssein Obama is our 44th President of the United States. He has a lot of work ahead of him, and now he will have to prove he is able to stand up to the title and responsibilities that come with it. McCain is an American hero and an incredibly intelligent man. I hope that he will be part of the fix to the problems we are facing today and in years to come. There is a long road ahead.

I sign off with pride in my country in one hand and a beer in the other.

Natasha

hey people, so i just wanted to give out a kind of warning. my identity was stolen...nothing terrible that I know of yet, but get your credit checked every year at least. The identity theft is some paper work, and it makes for a bad day. Luckily the people I contacted were nice and it went by a lot quicker than I thought. I still have some work to do, but I thought I'd warn all of you to just check it. I was lucky that the company contacted me before anything terrible happened.

That's about it...again, nothing serious that I know of yet. I still need to get my credit checked, but my SSN was frozen so I have to file a request my mail, balh blah blah. THis is more of a warning for all of you guys.

Natasha

PS, I'll try to make a post in my other account soon.
So it's day one and I am actually in a hotel not far from Barcelona. It was actually not in the itinerary to go, but me being stubborn and deciding not to waste the opportunity, we took a train down to the city. Spent the entire time in the shopping Modernist area. It's pretty cool, TONS of people. The three of us were a little tired because we'd been up for the past day and a half getting to Spain. (airports are a pain in the ass) Nicolai's lovely "navigational skills" got us traveling all over Barcelona...to see train stations. That's ok though, I plan on coming back. We finally got to our stop and took a taxi home. People are really nice and sympathetic. Sooooo chill compared to the lovely Polish group we have going. (more on that later)

Tomorrow off to Madrid. 700 kilometer drive, so most of the day will be spent doing that.

I'm soo tired. Some photos will be up on Facebook.

If I have wifi somewhere else, I'll keep on posting.

Love you all!

Natasha

I have some time on my hands now and was wondering if anyone has any recommendations on a good read. I've read quite a bit of historical and biographical books in the last couple of months, and I just need something new. I have a biography on Che Guevara that I want to read, but I just can't get into it.

Any recommendations?

Just for your info, A Short History of Nearly Everything, by Bill Bryson is a nice read. It literally is what the title says, but it's definitely not difficult to comprehend. It's one of my favorites now. I might just re-read it. :)

Natasha

So hi. I really have nothing to say, other than I am hormonal like woah. School is going well. I actually like my junior year. It's hard, but I like it.
Two parts of your heritage:
1. Norwegian
2. Polish
(Odd combo, I know)

Two things that scare you:
1. Tall buildings. I freaked out on the Eiffel Tower. It was halarious.
2. Not getting into a college. I know, I'm a nerd.

Two truths:
1. I'm final happy with life.
2.

Two of your favorite hobbies:
1. reading
2. music academy (yes, i love my high school that much)

I thought I would do this google thing:

1. Natasha needs to stop holding her nose and start leaning her head back.

2. Natasha needs her full set of shots, and may need to be spayed. (My favorite)

3. Finally the Italian couple's translator tells me Natasha needs to go.

4. Natasha needs everything to be obvious.

5.
I "updated" my background. It's my brother and I on Vesuvious in Italy. (It's the volcano)It's actaully huge and looks more like a national park than a crater. There is another crater that looks like a typical crater, but I'll post pictures later.
